Open Opera Ukraine, together with the National House of Music, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, with the support of Ukraine Office Austria and the Embassy of Austria in Ukraine, invite to participate in open master classes with basso continuo ensembles of performers consisting of harpsichord, cello and solo instrument or voice.

The master classes will be held from April 13 to 16, 2025 in the music salon of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine (2 Volodymyrskyi Uzviz St.) under the guidance of Austrian cellist, conductor and teacher Jörg Zwicker.

Jörg Zwicker is a well-known expert in the field of historically informed performance, conductor, cellist, teacher and sincere friend of Ukraine again in Kyiv! In a joint project of Open Opera Ukraine and the National House of Music, he will hold traditional master classes and conduct two outstanding and undoubtedly relevant works by Johann Sebastian Bach in the pre-Easter week: the Easter Oratorio and the Magnificat.

As part of the master classes, participants will practice working with the basso continuo in the repertoire of the first half of the 18th century. The composition of the participants and the schedule of classes are determined by the mentor.

The presence of a baroque instrument is not a prerequisite for participation, but the performance of the appropriate repertoire (music of the first half of the 18th century) is important.
