Literary meetings with Halyna Kruk in Austria
At the end of April, two important literary events took place in Austria featuring Ukrainian author Halyna Kruk, focusing on war, occupation, violence, and the realities of living through Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
On April 28, the literary evening “Four Years after Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion of Ukraine: Literary Responses to War and Occupation” was held in Klagenfurt. Through the texts of Stanislav Aseyev and Halyna Kruk, the audience encountered reflections on war crimes, loss, occupation, and resilience. The event was accompanied by performances from the Ukrainian choir Kryla and the exhibition of the art object “Taubennest”.
On April 29, Halyna Kruk participated in the “Bibliothek erlesen” series in Graz. At the Styrian State Library, the Ukrainian poet, translator, and literary scholar presented readings from her new poetry collection “Crashkurs in Molotowcocktails”. The evening focused on women’s experiences of war — between loss, love, displacement, and return — while also opening a powerful dialogue with Europe about responsibility, perception, and the social consequences of war.
We sincerely thank everyone who joined these events and contributed to this important cultural dialogue about Ukraine through literature.
