IRON PEOPLE: Life and War on Ukraine’s Railway Lines
The exhibition “IRON PEOPLE” by Dutch photographer, author, and filmmaker Jelle Krings is dedicated to Ukrainian railway workers—those who, for three years, have maintained mobility, evacuations, and vital connections under wartime conditions.
Wednesday, May 20, 2026
5:30–7:30 p.m.
Lower Austria State Parliament Building, Foyer, Building 1A, Landhausplatz 1, 3109 St. Pölten
In his project, the artist documents the daily lives and work of Ukrainian railway employees who have become key players in Ukraine’s infrastructural and humanitarian resistance. The exhibition has already been shown in Sofia, Budapest, and Kyiv; Jelle Krings’ work has been featured in publications including The Guardian, National Geographic, The Economist, and CNN. The event provides a forum for discussions about human resilience, solidarity, and the importance of infrastructure in times of war.
