Third Ukrainian-Austrian School of Pain Management
From June 3rd to 5th, the third Ukrainian-Austrian School of Pain Management took place in Lviv – an intensive continuing education program for physicians working with patients suffering from acute and chronic pain, particularly following trauma, amputations, and war injuries.
The conference was opened by Ambassador Robert MÜLLER and Rector Orest CHEMERYS. Both emphasized the importance of the school as a supra-regional platform for exchanging current scientific findings and their practical application in almost all regions of Ukraine. This is ensured by the participation of numerous physicians from across the region.
Forty specialists from the fields of physical and rehabilitative medicine, anesthesiology, neurology, and psychotherapy deepened their knowledge of modern methods for pain diagnosis and therapy. The program included lectures, clinical discussions, practical seminars, and workshops.
The school brought together units at the Danylo Halytskyi National Medical University of Lviv and the Superhumans Center. Key topics included neuropathic pain, post-traumatic pain syndromes, phantom limb pain, complex regional pain syndrome, the evidence-based use of analgesics, and interdisciplinary approaches to pain management.
The event provided a valuable platform for professional exchange between Ukrainian and Austrian experts and for the joint development of modern concepts in pain medicine.
