Maria studied Stage Dance, Performance and Pedagogy in Linz. Now she lives and works in Austria.
Maria Shurkhal was born and raised in Kyiv. There she started her journey into the world of dance, which led her to the Ukrainian Serge Lifar Dance Academy. In 2013, Maria entered the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, to obtain Bachelor's degree. Now Maria continues her education, studying for her Master's, and works as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher.
The choreographer is developing her own dance project, So S!Ckle, and has launched an international educational project called UP dance, which provides opportunities for children from Poland and Ukraine to learn contemporary dance.
Today, Maria trains the Austrian National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, is involved in the artistic and organizational development of the PUC project, which she co-founded in 2017 with Anna Possarnig, and dances in the Cie Off. Verticality, produces Bauhaus Tanzt and Bauhaus Tanzt 2 projects, and develops new works.
