The show displays a collaborative installation by Christoph Höschele and Leo Trotsenko that was developed and exhibited in Mala Gallery of Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv in 2021.

Both artist were residents of the international program Temporary Un/Availability. Ukrainian-Austrian Art Residency 2021, organized by Mystetskyi Arsenal and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Kyiv in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Arts of the Government of Lower Austria.

In the dialogue, they worked on the creation of multimedia projects on the topic of place and its un/availability due to the global epidemic situation.

Christoph Höschele

It’s all about connections, 2021

In his work Christoph Höschele was influenced by virtual collaboration and distance communication like zoom or messenger services. In an engematic parkour of real and virtual pennants, fans and colored sticky tapes he dissects the space and leaves room for associations.

Leo Trotsenko

*1994, Ukraine.

Studied the history and theory of art at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, Bachelor, 2016. In 2018, as an artist studied at a scholarship program on contemporary art, Kyiv Academy of Media Arts.

Co-founder of the photo-initiative Periscope_ua, which since 2016 held one-day apartment exhibitions called “Trace”. Based on cooperation with photographers the initiative publishes the photo almanack “Alternative Archeology”. Through these publications, Periscope_ua explores Ukrainian cities through urban ethnography. In 2017 joined the self-organized artistic initiative DE NE DE, which explores urban transformations as a result of decommunization politics, and promotes a critical rethinking of the Soviet heritage. Studied in the curriculum of the Curatorial Platform of the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv, 2018.

Christoph Höschele

*1976, France

Video- and Media Art, Art in public space; Lives and works in Lower Austria and Vienna. Studied Visual Media Design and Digital Arts at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Prof. Peter Weibel, Prof. Karel Dudesek, Prof. Tom Fürstner, Prof. Ruth Schnell).

Erasmus Scholarship at the Eesti Kunstiakadeemia, Tallinn / Estonia, MA-Diploma in Visual Media Design.
