WHAT IS THE MOVIE ABOUT
Argentinian cameraman Leandro makes a living filming Jewish weddings. He himself is absolutely not interested in the origin of his family, until he falls in love with the clarinetist Paloma at one of the weddings. The girl plays in a klezmer band specializing in Jewish folk music in Yiddish. In order to get closer to Paloma, Leandro invents a fake documentary project about klezmer music, and the two of them embark on an emotional and unpredictable journey through Eastern Europe in search of almost lost klezmer tunes and their last performers.

WHY SHOUL YOU WATCH THIS MOVIE
The film “In Search of Klezmers” goes far beyond the usual music documentary. This is a hybrid road movie where directors Leandro Koch and Paloma Schachmann, grandchildren of Jewish emigrants, combined a fictional plot with a personal story, playing movie versions of themselves. Their expedition to the borders of Ukraine, Romania and Moldova in search of the disappearing cultural heritage reveals the context of the existence of the klezmer tradition and the reasons for its gradual extinction.

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Leandro Koch is an Argentinian screenwriter and director who studied cinematography at the University of Cinema in Buenos Aires.

Paloma Schachmann is an Argentinian musician, director and researcher of klezmer music.
