The performance is inspired by and dedicated to the figure of Arnold Schoenberg.

“Whimsical Tales of Mr. Schoenberg” – theatrical performance by the artist and director Bohdan Polishchuk

“Arnold Schoenberg embodies a tumultuous era, which seems to repeat itself in a spiral in our time. By creating this performance, we are talking about ourselves, about our society, inspired by the courage of the composer-reformer, the multidisciplinarity of his creative pursuits, and the philosophy of play that pervades his art.” – Bohdan Polishchuk.

We cannot call it a performance, but rather a provocation to play, immersion in a world where reality ceases to define the rules.
This is the territory of a surreal experiment, a small world in which music, words, dance and, of course, play are intertwined. We invite you to become not only spectators, but also performers of this whimsical action.

So who is Mr. Schoenberg and why are we turning to his work today?
He is an Austrian cult composer and reformer of world music of the beginning of the 20th century, and it is with his name that the origin and development of dodecaphony are associated. In addition, he is an avid inventor and a powerful artist.
This year, the world celebrates the 150th anniversary of Arnold Schoenberg.

His influence did not bypass Ukraine either. Schoenberg’s music served as a certain impetus and inspiration for the iconic Ukrainian composer Borys Lyatoshinskyi. It is interesting that for several years Schoenberg was also the teacher of the first Ukrainian female composer Stefania Turkevich.

Creating a performance is an attempt to move away from the framework perception of musical heritage only in the academic halls of conservatories and philharmonics. Music, modern dance, theatrical performance and visual art will be combined here. Play as a state and as a process is the basis of our performance. We invite you to dive into the whimsical world of fairy tales, fairy tales for adults, in which the game will unite the performers and the audience.
