The discussion moderates Evgenia Lopata, curator of a number of Celan projects in Ukraine and abroad.
The programme also includes the screening of the documentary "Antschel", which was shot in 2020 by the Austrian director and poet Susanne Ayoub. The Austrian art historian and close friend of Paul Celan Klaus Demus took part in the film.
The film will be shown in German with Ukrainian subtitles. The screening lasts 45 minutes.
Paul Celan year
Two important historical events took place in 2020: November 23rd marked the 100th birthday of Paul Celan, while exactly 50 years ago the poet's life ended in tragic circumstances in Paris.
Paul Celan is the author of one of the most famous poems of the post-war period, "Todesfuge". The trauma of the Holocaust became the leitmotif for the Czernowitz-born poet of Jewish origin, who achieved worldwide recognition.
