The round table discussion is organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Kafka's death.

The event will take place within the framework of the international scientific conference “Library. Science. Communication: Integration into the international library space” in a mixed format - offline and online via Zoom.

The official web portal of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine hosts an electronic exhibition entitled “Franz Kafka. A writer who created his own biography”, which includes 94 books from the book collection of the Austrian Library. The exhibition is available at the following link.

Franz Kafka, the world’s greatest writer, known for his unique gift of exploring the depths of the human psyche in his works, remains an important figure in world literature.

His works are intensively studied and received in various cultural contexts, which makes this topic extremely relevant for scientific discussion. The analysis of his works allows us to understand the changes in the perception of modernist literature and its influence on today’s art and thought. Engaging with Kafka not only reveals the complexity of individual existence, but also expands the understanding of cultural and social processes that shape human identity in a globalized world. This event brings together staff from Austrian libraries, researchers, academics to give participants the opportunity to delve deeper into the analysis and understanding of Franz Kafka’s legacy, discuss his influence on modern culture and art, and explore different interpretations of his works in different cultural contexts.
