2026 Jaipur Literature Festival
Ukrainian poetry on one of the world's most influential literary stages
As part of the 2026 Jaipur Literature Festival, Julia Musakovska participated in a poetry reading and a panel discussion. Together with authors from Bhutan and India, she presented poems from her collection “The God of Freedom,” which the moderator described as “highly political and at the same time deeply personal.” The audience responded with great interest; translations into Marathi, Bengali, and Hindi are in preparation.
Another highlight was the panel discussion with Austrian writer Andreas Unterweger, moderated by Asad Lalljee. The discussion focused on poetry as a form of solidarity, the transformation of Ukrainian poetry since 2022, and the motivation for translating texts by authors who have joined the defense forces. An international guest described the conversation as one of the most impactful of the festival.
The events took place with the support of the Ukraine Office Austria at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the Austrian Embassy New Delhi, the Austrian Cultural Forum Kyiv, the Embassy of Ukraine in India and the Ukrainian Institute.
