A feast of sonic splendor, philosophy, and irony

Amandante is the first opera by the Dutch-Ukrainian composer Maxim Shalygin – a work that combines philosophy, poetry, and musical theater in a new way. The premiere, originally planned for 2022 in Kyiv, had to be canceled due to the war. After more than two years of intensive artistic work, the work had its successful premiere in 2024 at the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam.

Nova Opera is an experimental musical theater collective from Kyiv. Despite the war, the ensemble creates internationally acclaimed productions that blend baroque, avant-garde, trip-hop, folk music, and contemporary music. Nova Opera stands for musical theater without stylistic or geographical boundaries.

Founded in 2022 by refugee Ukrainian musicians under the direction of Kateryna Suprun, the orchestra is already known as a cultural ambassador for Ukraine, with celebrated performances at the Berlin Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie, and Laeiszhalle. Press and audiences praise its artistic excellence and emotional power.

Antonii Baryshevskyi, Ukrainian pianist and winner of the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, is considered one of the most fascinating pianists of his generation. He impresses with his tonal depth, technical mastery, and artistic independence.
