Open call for the City Writer of Wels 2026 scholarship!
For the 12th time, Wels invites writers from different countries to apply for a three-month literary residency taking place from September 1 to November 30, 2026.
The scholarship includes:
accommodation in Wels, a monthly stipend of €1,300, time and space to work on literary projects, participation in readings, discussions, and school activities.
The programme is looking for authors who:
- engage with contemporary topics,
- are interested in literature for children and young people,
- are willing to conduct workshops and collaborate with schools,
- aim to inspire joy in language and creative writing.

— two writing samples (max. 10 pages each).
