Traveling exhibition “Elsewhereland” in Budapest

The Ukrainian traveling exhibition “Elsewhereland” has opened its first stop in Budapest and was officially inaugurated last friday at the Austrian Cultural Forum Budapest.

The exhibition will continue to Warsaw in April and to Bucharest in September. By the end of 2027, it will tour across Central Europe before traveling beyond Europe as well.

The exhibition was developed in cooperation with Austrian ministries and features works by ten Ukrainian artists who were forced to leave their home country following the start of Russia’s full-scale war of aggression.

About the exhibition
“Elsewhereland” explores themes of displacement, loss, memory, and new beginnings. Through diverse artistic practices, the exhibition reflects on life in exile, the in-between state of belonging, and the search for new forms of expression away from home. It offers an insightful perspective on contemporary Ukrainian art shaped by war, migration, and the broader European context.

We extend our sincere thanks to all contributors and partners whose long-term commitment made this exhibition possible.
