Ukrainian Literature on the Global Stage – Project Highlights from Buenos Aires
In May 2026, a joint Austrian-Ukrainian literary initiative concluded successfully as part of the 50th Buenos Aires International Book Fair. Through the cooperation of the Austrian Embassy in Buenos Aires, the Ukraine Office Austria, the Ukrainian Institute, the Embassy of Ukraine and the EU Delegation, contemporary Ukrainian literature reached one of the largest Spanish-speaking literary audiences in the world.
Ukrainian authors Eugenia Kuznetsova and Artem Chapeye participated in readings and public discussions, sharing reflections on war, identity, home, resilience and the role of literature in times of crisis. Their conversations offered visitors a deeper understanding of contemporary Ukraine through literature.
The project once again demonstrated the importance of cultural diplomacy and international cooperation. By supporting the visibility of Ukrainian voices abroad, Austria contributed to strengthening European cultural dialogue and creating new opportunities for collaboration between cultural institutions.
