This edition is based on texts from lectures delivered in 2010-2012 at the Lviv cultural and artistic center "Dzyga" gallery.

The essays collected under one cover reflect the views and quintessence of many years of work by various people and are thematically dedicated to diverse aspects of our shared European history and culture. Topics include: Habsburg reforms concerning the Greek Catholic Church in Galicia at the turn of the 18th–19th centuries; Ukrainian musician Yevseviy Mandichevskyi in Vienna’s cultural and artistic life; Ruthenian balls in Austrian Lviv; the city of musicians and philosophers; the new art of the Galician capital at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century; architecture of snowy slopes and Galician railways; park and architectural ensembles of Ukraine and Austria; the Lviv liberal alternative; mathematics without borders; Ivan Franko and the Ukrainian question; Paul Celan and Ingeborg Bachmann: correspondence of lovers, and much more. Among the authors are staff members of the Institute — Mykola Ilnytskyi, Ostap Sereda, Tymofiy Havryliv. Introductory essay by Mykola Ryabchuk. Design by Olena Rubanovska. This publication is the culmination of the second stage of the interdisciplinary project "Austrian Evenings."
