Venus in Furs (in Ukrainian)
Venus in Furs is the most famous novella by Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
It is considered the first literary attempt to explore masochism as a social and sexual-psychological phenomenon. The author claimed the work had an autobiographical basis and was inspired by his love affair with Fanny von Pistor. The novella presents a strikingly candid depiction of physical domination by a strong woman over a man—an experience that brings pleasure to both. A bold and provocative narrative that probes the complexities of power, desire, and identity.
