Arik Brauer and Timna Brauer
Arik Brauer was not only a famous painter, but an extremely successful singer, architect, scenic designer and writer. He is considered to be the main representative of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.
Although Arik Brauer experienced the trauma of Nazi persecution as a child and adolescent, he was known for his optimistic and life-affirming nature. Throughout his life he campaigned for important issues such as women’s rights and environmental protection and warned against intolerance, racism and social grievances. Arik Brauer died in January 2021 at the age of 92.
Timna Brauer is internationally known as a multitalented singer and chansonniere. Her repertoire ranges from Israeli folklore, French chansons to jazz and Yiddish songs. You can find out more about her works, peace projects and artistic development in the KulturCafé!
