KulturPortrait: Emilie Flöge
Successful businesswoman, haute couture designer and muse of Gustav Klimt. In the new issue of KulturPortrait we will talk about Emilie Flöge.
Already in the early twentieth century, Emilie Flöge, along with her sisters Pauline and Helene, was a recognized Viennese fashion designer. The “Schwestern Flöge” salon was the presentation area for models based on the highly topical designs of the Wiener Werkstätte.
Up to 80 dressmakers were employed here - the fashionable meeting place for Viennese society - to meet the great demand for designs by the "Schwestern Flöge".
What was the secret of the salon's success? What was special about the “Schwestern Flöge” brand? How did Emile Flöge and Gustav Klimt's relationship inspire them?
We will talk about this and more with the curator of the Wien Museum, Michaela Lindinger, who is responsible for the museum's fashion collection. Her area of interest includes women's and gender history, portraits, the history of Vienna and, of course, fashion.
The language of the event is German with Ukrainian subtitles. You can watch the programme on the Facebook-page of the ACF and on our YouTube-channel.
