Panel discussion “(Post-)Colonial Perspectives in Translation Studies”
On April 23, a panel discussion on "(Post-)Colonial Perspectives in Translation Studies: The Ukrainian-German Context" took place in the main building of Ivan Franko University in Lviv.
The event brought together scholars, faculty, and students to discuss key issues in contemporary translation studies.
The moderator, Professor Alla Paslawska, emphasized the importance of critically re-evaluating existing translation practices and raised fundamental questions regarding text selection and current translation strategies in the Ukrainian context.
Particular attention was also paid to the international representation of Ukrainian literature and the dynamics of the German-language translation market.
Dean Lyubomyr Borakovskyy also highlighted the emergence of a new translation canon and underscored the need to rethink existing literary and translational approaches in the current context.
A heartfelt thank you to the organizers for this important and stimulating discussion, which opened up new perspectives and enriched the professional exchange in a lasting way.
