Presentation of “Echoes from Vienna”

On December 11, the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria hosted a warm and inspiring presentation of the book “Echoes from Vienna,” which brought together researchers, artists, cultural managers, and friends of Ukrainian culture.

The publication by writer and art historian Diana Klochko sheds light on an important but often overlooked page in history — Ukrainian artists who studied in Vienna and brought European modern practices to Ukrainian art, forming a unique cultural bridge between our countries.

The conversation with publisher and cultural manager Oleksandra Saienko, moderated by Andreas Wenninger, focused on artistic biographies, intellectual environments, and the ways in which artists integrated into the Viennese context while preserving their Ukrainian identity. The discussion showed how relevant it is to bring these voices back into the modern cultural discourse — especially today, when Ukraine is fighting for the right to be heard in Europe not only because of the military context, but also because of its cultural depth.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who joined, supported, and came to the event.
