Infrastructure Policy of the Austrian Government in the Northeastern Monarchy from the Late 18th Century to the 1860s (A Case Study of Transportation Routes) (in Ukrainian)
This monograph examines the infrastructure policy of the Austrian government in the northeastern part of the monarchy—specifically Galicia and Bukovina—after their incorporation into the Habsburg Empire in the 1770s until the 1860s, using transport routes as a case study.
It explores the socio-economic and political motivations behind Austrian policy toward traditional means of communication—roads and waterways—as well as the government’s approach to railways as a modern mode of transportation. The study also highlights how the communication factor influenced Austria’s foreign policy toward Prussia, Russia, and the Danubian Principalities.
