Притулок часу / Zeitgehöft (bilingual)
Paul Celan's collection of poems, Zeitgehöft, published by Suhrkamp Verlag in 1976, almost seven years after the poet's death, contains 50 poems.
These are Celan's last poems, written between February 25, 1969, and April 13, 1970 (with the exception of the poem "MANDELNDE," dated September 2, 1968). They could no longer be prepared for publication by the author himself and have been edited from three bundles discovered in the poet's archive. The central part of the collection is the so-called "Jerusalem Cycle," based on Celan's impressions from his trip to Israel in October 1969. Full of dark forebodings and eschatological motifs, the book stylistically continues the poet's previous late volumes of poetry, Fadensonnen, Lichtzwang, and Schneepart. The book's design incorporates the image of Helga von Loewenich's Zeitgehöft from Paul Celan's volume of poetry of the same name (print and watercolor with color pigments on handmade French torchon paper, 30 x 21 cm, 2019).
