Conversation with Prof. Peter Rychlo, Professor of Literature at Chernivtsi National University, who, together with Helga von Loewenich, developed the “Bukovina-Galician Literary Route”

Peter Rychlo

(born 1950) is a Ukrainian Germanist, literary scholar, translator, essayist, and professor at Yuriy Fedkovych National University of Chernivtsi. He is responsible for numerous translations of German, Austrian, and Swiss authors into Ukrainian. Among other things, translations of works by authors from Bukovina such as Karl Emil Franzos, Jura Soyfer, Manès Sperber, Georg Drozdowski, Gregor von Rezzori, Paul Celan, Rose Ausländer, Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger, Josef Burg, Aharon Appelfeld, and Reiner Kunze.

Helga von Loewenich
(born 1943 on Lake Constance) is a German artist. She attended the art academies in Nuremberg and Munich and is a member of the Federal Association of German Artists. Von Loewenich works as a research associate at the Jewish Museum Berlin. The visual dialogue with works of poetry and music is a fundamental theme and focus of her artistic work. Her works on the poetry of Rose Ausländer, Paul Celan, Else Lasker-Schüler, Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger, and Hilde Domin are exemplary of this.
