On 16 November, the Donau Lounge at Buch Wien will host the presentation of the bilingual anthology “Im Flug der Zeit / LET. Young Ukrainian Women Writers on the War,” edited by Austrian literary scholar Alois Woldan and Ukrainian editor and translator Iryna Sazhynska. The volume features works by four young Ukrainian poets who reflect on the war and the profound suffering it brings.
The anthology gives space to strong and intimate voices of Ukraine’s younger literary generation. Their poems serve not only as personal testimonies but also as cultural documents of a society living through destruction and upheaval. Through vivid imagery and emotional precision, the authors explore grief, resilience, fear, hope, and the search for meaning under wartime pressure. The bilingual format preserves the authenticity of the original Ukrainian texts while making them accessible to German-speaking readers.
The discussion focuses on how war reshapes poetic language, how young authors articulate trauma, and why literature becomes a vital form of resistance and remembrance.
