“Da sitze ich und schreibe jetzt”
On 17 December, Haus für Poesie in Berlin hosted a powerful literary evening dedicated to Taras Shevchenko and Mykola Khvylovy.
The event brought together readings and thoughtful discussion on the historical and cultural significance of both authors — from the foundations of Ukrainian national consciousness to the bold modernist experiments of the 20th century. Excerpts in translation highlighted literature’s enduring role in shaping identity and resisting erasure.
