presentation of the bilingual anthology Im Flug der Zeit / ЛЕТ
The presentation of the bilingual anthology Im Flug der Zeit / LET — Young Ukrainian Women Writers on the War took place on 16 November at Donau Lounge during Buch Wien.
The morning event brought together poetry lovers and cultural enthusiasts to engage with urgent literary voices emerging from Ukraine’s wartime experience.
Edited by Iryna Sazhynska and translated into German by Alois Woldan, the anthology features poems by four young Ukrainian writers — Iryna Sazhynska, Halyna Hulijeva, Oksana Osmolovs’ka, and Jelizaveta Zharikova — whose work confronts the realities of war, suffering, memory, hope, and personal resilience with poetic clarity.
At the event, attendees were treated to readings from the anthology, followed by reflections from the poets themselves on how war shapes daily life and creative expression. Moderator Annemarie Türk facilitated a thoughtful conversation, bringing context to the powerful imagery and themes in the works presented.
Guests highlighted the emotional strength and artistic depth of the young Ukrainian voices, whose poetry transforms personal experience into universal reflection. The presentation stood as a meaningful moment of cultural solidarity, affirming the place of Ukrainian literature on the global stage.
